The LC500SCAPCSM is a 500-meter test fiber, suitable for use as both front and rear test fiber. It is used together with OTDR fiber testers to compensate for the so-called dead zone (EDZ) when measuring long cable spans. OTDR fiber testers normally cannot accurately measure the first few meters of a measurement, nor the end of a fiber link. Test fibers are required for this purpose.
